GTM Services
GTM Services & Go-To-Market Consulting: What They Cover and When to Buy
GTM services are outsourced go-to-market execution: someone else runs the sales, pipeline, and market-entry work your team either can't staff yet or can't staff twice. Chief GTM delivers them three ways — a single In-Market Sales Executive, Lead Gen paired with that executive, or a full Go-To-Market Team as a Service — across the US, Silicon Valley, and Europe.
What are GTM services?
GTM (go-to-market) services are outsourced execution of the sales and market-entry work a company can't yet staff internally — ranging from advisory and demand generation to senior in-market selling. Chief GTM focuses on execution: a senior sales executive operating in your market, optionally with a lead gen engine or a full go-to-market team behind them.
- Tier 1 — In-Market Sales Executive: a senior operator in the room with your buyers, at events and in strategic accounts.
- Tier 2 — Lead Gen + Executive: ICP targeting and outbound feeding qualified meetings into that executive's calendar.
- Tier 3 — Full GTM Team as a Service: fractional CRO/VP leadership, SDR capacity, RevOps, demand gen and partner development.
- Fixed-scope retainer plus travel — not commission-only, not an SDR shop, not a slide deck.
What 'GTM services' usually means in practice
The term covers a wide range, and the range is the problem. Some providers sell strategy documents. Some sell meeting volume. Very few sell the part that actually closes revenue in a new market: a credible senior person sitting across the table from your buyer. When you evaluate GTM services, sort every provider by which of those three they actually do.
- Advisory: market research, ICP definition, positioning. Useful, but nothing lands in the pipeline.
- Demand generation: outbound, paid, content. Produces meetings; leaves your team to run them.
- Execution: someone senior owns the conversations, the events, and the relationships end to end.
When buying beats hiring
A full-time VP of Sales in a new market is a 6–9 month recruiting cycle, a large fixed cost, and a bet on someone who has never sold your product. GTM services compress that: presence in the market in weeks, and evidence about the market before you commit headcount to it. Companies typically buy when the product already sells at home, the new market looks real, and the next hire is too expensive to get wrong.
How the three tiers map to where you are
If you already have inbound and a pipeline but nobody senior in the region, start at Tier 1. If the pipeline itself is thin, Tier 2 adds the top-of-funnel engine behind the executive. If you need an entire revenue function — leadership, SDRs, RevOps, marketing, partners — Tier 3 delivers it as one accountable engagement instead of five vendors.
What to measure in the first 90 days
Don't measure activity. Measure whether real buyers are meeting a real person from your company, and whether those conversations move. Named target accounts engaged, face-to-face meetings held, qualified pipeline created, and a written read on whether the market deserves a permanent hire.
Go-to-market consulting vs go-to-market execution
Most go-to-market consulting firms sell thinking: market sizing, segmentation, positioning, a launch plan. That work has value when the question is 'where should we play?'. It has almost none when the question is 'who is going to sit in front of these buyers next month?'. A go-to-market consultant hands you a plan; an execution partner runs it. If you already know the market you want, buy execution and let the strategy emerge from real conversations with real buyers.
- Go-to-market strategy consulting: research, ICP, positioning, pricing, launch sequencing.
- GTM agency / demand gen: outbound and campaigns that create meetings.
- GTM execution (what we do): a senior operator owning accounts, meetings, events and relationships in-market.
What GTM means in business
GTM stands for go-to-market: the whole system by which a company reaches buyers and converts them — target segment, offer, pricing, channels, sales motion, and the people executing it. 'GTM services' therefore means someone else supplying part of that system. The useful question is never 'do we need GTM help?' but 'which piece of the system are we missing — the plan, the pipeline, or the person in the room?'
